Hi, I’m Anna.
A Little About My Approach
No Judgment. No Unnecessary Complications.
We don't always have the time, staff, or resources we wish we had. That's normal. My job isn't to tell you everything you should have done differently, it’s to understand where you are and help you move forward.
I bring a combination of creative thinking, practical experience, flexibility, and hands-on leadership to every project. Sometimes that means developing a strategy and sometimes it means building systems, coordinating a team, or jumping into the details to make sure the work gets done. Typically, it's a little bit of everything.
I believe in collaborative problem-solving and finding solutions that actually make sense for the people who have to use them.
Where I've Been
What a wild ride! My experience spans more than 15 years in the food sector, including agricultural marketing, a community supported fishery, seafood health and safety, nonprofit programs, direct-to-consumer marketing, and regional food-system initiatives.
I've worked across communications, marketing, program development, project management, and operations. Each experience helps me understand both the big-picture goals and the day-to-day realities of getting things done.
Today, through Root Cellar Consulting, I partner with organizations working to strengthen farms and local food systems.
Let's Work Together
Whether you need someone to lead a complex initiative, strengthen your marketing, develop a new program, or bring some order to an unwieldy project, I'd love to hear what you're working on.
Experienced leadership. Practical solutions. A healthy sense of humor.
I'm Anna Larsen, the founder of Root Cellar Consulting. I'm a marketing strategist, project manager, problem-solver, and entrepreneur with more than 15 years of experience in the food business.
I've worked with farms, food businesses, nonprofits, and regional initiatives on everything from marketing campaigns and brand development to educational programs, organizational systems, and complex, multi-partner projects.
I like big ideas. I also like spreadsheets, clear timelines, and the whole team knowing who's responsible for what.
I live in Sacramento, CA with my three wild kids and a collection of pets.
How We Work Together
We work in a structured, collaborative way that balances clarity with flexibility. While every engagement is tailored, most projects follow a steady, five-part rhythm.
Grounding & Discovery
We start by getting the lay of the land. What's working? What's getting in the way? What resources, people, and systems are already in place? Together, we'll identify your priorities and define what success looks like.
Plan Development
Using what we’ve learned, we develop a clear, practical plan that aligns your goals with your real-world capacity. This may include strategic direction, operational recommendations, marketing frameworks, or system design. Plans are always grounded in what is sustainable for you.
Review & Refinement
Plans are presented clearly and thoughtfully, with space for questions, reflection, and feedback. We refine the work together, ensuring it feels realistic, aligned, and genuinely useful. This step is collaborative by design.
Implementation
This is where things get moving. Depending on the project, I can lead implementation, coordinate partners and contractors, manage timelines and deliverables, or work alongside your team to get the job done.
Progress Check-Ins
Growth rarely happens in a straight line. Things change. We build in time to review progress, adjust plans, and respond to what’s emerging. These check-ins help ensure momentum continues without overwhelm.
